After François is a series of audiovisual works inspired by the work of architect François Blanciak. The fanciful hand-drawn imaginings in his well-known book Siteless: 1001 Building Forms conjured, for me, not so much architectural possibilities but motion, sound, and narrativity. Approaching basic forms algorithmically, I sought to create the type of dynamism that I imagined Blanciak's shapes to contain. After the creation of the shapes, the project became one of sound design, attempting to create a combination of literal and lateral sonic pairings with the shapes.
In an installation format, the sonic environments are generative and ever changing based on viewer-listeners' manipulations of the objects in VR. Objects fall silent after they have not been manipulated for some time. Multiple objects can sound simultaneously; playing several videos simultaneously below simulates the sonic environment of the installation.
